Tubi is the first streamer to launch a native app within ChatGPT

Tubi, the streaming platform owned by Fox, has officially launched a unique native app within ChatGPT, revolutionizing the way viewers can navigate its extensive collection of over 300,000 movies and TV shows. This pioneering move makes Tubi the first major streaming service to embed a dedicated experience directly into ChatGPT, setting it apart in a competitive market. Users can easily access the Tubi app via the ChatGPT app store, where they can initiate requests simply by typing “@Tubi.” This new feature allows for natural-language queries, such as asking for “a thriller for girls’ night” or “something funny,” resulting in personalized recommendations that link back to Tubi's vast library. As the competition in the streaming sector escalates, Tubi's innovative approach aims to simplify content discovery, an increasing challenge for platforms amid endless viewing options. The launch of this integration follows Tubi’s earlier initiatives with artificial intelligence. In 2023, the service introduced “Rabbit AI,” a feature in its mobile app that provided tailored recommendations based on user inquiries, although it was discontinued the following year. The shift to integrate with ChatGPT represents a strategic change for Tubi, as it meets users in a space they frequently turn to for suggestions. ChatGPT has amassed 900 million weekly active users, while Tubi boasts over 100 million monthly active users. In addition to this launch, Tubi has also kicked off the “Creatorverse Incubator,” aimed at fostering new content creators by offering promotional support and potential funding for original shows that will premiere exclusively on its platform. Since OpenAI introduced the ability for developers to create apps within ChatGPT last October, numerous companies, including Booking.com and Spotify, have launched their integrations, with SeatGeek being the latest to join the fold.
