In an effort to enhance its content offerings and engage a younger audience, Tubi, the streaming service owned by Fox, revealed a new initiative on Wednesday that incorporates videos from popular YouTube creators. This innovative Creators program will feature more than 500 episodic videos from six prominent YouTubers, including the well-known Mythical Entertainment run by Rhett and Link. By collaborating with established creators who already boast dedicated fanbases, Tubi seeks to draw in viewers who are fans of these personalities, thereby increasing its competitiveness in a rapidly evolving streaming landscape. A recent Nielsen report highlighted that YouTube commands a significant share of streaming viewership, accounting for 12.5% of all television viewing in May, while Tubi has managed to capture only 2.2%. This strategic approach mirrors the efforts of other platforms, such as Peacock, which has been enlisting popular TikTok creators to develop original content for its own service. Tubi has announced plans to onboard additional creators and introduce thousands more videos in the near future. Previously, Tubi has made strides to showcase emerging talent through various initiatives. For instance, the platform has collaborated with Kickstarter to feature films funded through its platform, as well as provide financial backing. Additionally, last year, Tubi launched 'Stubios,' a program designed specifically for aspiring filmmakers to submit their unique works.
