TSMC, the world's largest contract chipmaker, reports 68% surge in June revenue

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), the leading global contract chipmaker, announced a staggering 67.9% increase in its revenue for June compared to the same month last year. This impressive growth comes just ahead of the company’s much-anticipated second-quarter earnings report, scheduled for later this week. For the first half of 2026, TSMC's total revenue soared to 2.4 trillion new Taiwan dollars, equivalent to approximately $74.99 billion. This marks a significant 35.6% rise from the same time frame in 2025. In June alone, TSMC reported sales of NT$ 442.68 billion, reflecting a 6.2% month-over-month increase. The company’s stock rose by 1% on Monday following the announcement. This robust growth has been largely driven by escalating demand for artificial intelligence chips and substantial investments in infrastructure. TSMC plays a critical role in the semiconductor industry, producing chips that cater to a diverse array of applications, including smartphones and advanced AI computing systems. Among its prominent clients are major U.S. technology companies such as Nvidia, Apple, and Advanced Micro Devices. In addition to its revenue growth, TSMC is expanding its operations with plans to construct two advanced chip packaging plants in the Chiayi Science Park located in southern Taiwan. According to Taiwan's National Science and Technology Council Minister Wu Cheng-wen, the first facility is currently in mass production, while the second is set to commence operations soon. Holding a remarkable 73% share of the global pure-foundry market as of the first quarter of 2026, TSMC remains a dominant force in semiconductor manufacturing for third-party clients. Investors and industry watchers are eager to see the details of the company's second-quarter performance, which will be unveiled on Thursday, July 16.
