Trump says Netflix will face ‘consequences’ if it doesn’t fire board member Susan Rice

In a recent social media statement, former President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to Netflix, suggesting the streaming giant will face repercussions if it does not dismiss board member Susan Rice. Rice, who has been part of Netflix's board since 2018, previously served as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and held several high-profile roles during the Obama and Biden administrations. Trump's remarks were triggered by Rice's appearance on the podcast "Stay Tuned with Preet," where she discussed the potential accountability corporations may face when Democrats regain power. She stated that businesses that align themselves with Trump could find themselves in a precarious position, stating, "If these corporations think that the Democrats... are going to... forgive you for all the people you fired, all the policies and principles you’ve violated, I think they’ve got another thing coming." In response, Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to demand that Netflix dismiss Rice, labeling her as a "racist, Trump Deranged" figure and claiming she lacks talent. He expressed disbelief over her compensation and asserted, "HER POWER IS GONE, AND WILL NEVER BE BACK." Additionally, Trump shared a screenshot of a post by right-wing activist Laura Loomer, who criticized Rice’s statements and raised concerns about a potential monopoly stemming from Netflix's merger with Warner Bros., suggesting it could benefit the Obamas significantly. While Trump did not specify what he meant by "consequences," it’s noteworthy that Netflix's recent merger with Warner Bros. is pending federal approval. This deal follows a meeting between Trump and Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos prior to the announcement, where Trump acknowledged Netflix's significant market presence, indicating that regulatory scrutiny may lie ahead. In a similar vein last year, Trump had called for Microsoft to dismiss its global affairs president, Lisa Monaco, who remains in her position despite the pressure.
