Trump says TikTok should be tweaked to become “100% MAGA”

In a striking move, Donald Trump recently signed an executive order aimed at 'saving' TikTok, while making headlines with a controversial remark about wanting to alter the app's algorithm to promote content that is '100 percent MAGA.' This comment comes in the wake of Jimmy Kimmel's return to television, where he expressed concerns that Trump's actions against free speech might extend beyond comedians to social media influencers. During an appearance on Fox News, Trump indicated that media tycoon Rupert Murdoch and his son, Lachlan, CEO of Fox Corporation, are likely to join the investor group poised to take over TikTok's operations in the United States. This acquisition, which Trump alleged received tentative approval from China's President Xi Jinping, aims to ensure compliance with laws preventing foreign adversaries from holding majority ownership of the app. This move is seen as a strategy to mitigate potential risks of foreign influence and protect American users' data. The executive order outlined that tech giant Oracle would play a pivotal role in safeguarding the data of American TikTok users. Furthermore, it detailed the structure of the new U.S. venture, which will be governed by a board that includes one representative from ByteDance, TikTok's parent company, while the remaining six seats would be filled by U.S. investors. Trump hinted that Oracle's CEO, Larry Ellison, might take one of those positions, with Paramount Skydance's CEO, David Ellison, potentially filling another. As the situation unfolds, questions remain about whether Xi will indeed approve the deal, as Chinese media has yet to verify Trump's claims regarding a favorable discussion with the Chinese president about moving forward with the sale.
