Trump Mobile, a venture associated with Donald Trump's family business, is facing delays in the shipment of its much-anticipated gold smartphone. According to a report from the Financial Times, the company has postponed the expected delivery timeline, which was originally set for the end of the year. Launched in June, the Trump Mobile service features the $499 'T1' handset as part of an effort by Trump's children to leverage the family name for revenue. However, customer service representatives have indicated that the recent U.S. government shutdown has disrupted shipping logistics, leading to a likelihood that the gold variant of the smartphone may not be dispatched in December. The report highlights that although Trump Mobile had committed to offering a gold-colored version of the T1, the specific manufacturer has yet to be named. This uncertainty may stem from the scarcity of domestic smartphone production in the United States, where major players like Apple and Samsung dominate the market with devices primarily produced overseas. With the current U.S. smartphone manufacturing landscape virtually non-existent, Trump Mobile's struggle to secure a manufacturer for its devices could further complicate its plans. Despite the challenges, the company has already introduced a mobile network service priced at $47.45 per month. Customers are able to reserve the T1 smartphone with a $100 pre-booking fee, though its delivery timeline remains uncertain. The Trump Mobile website currently showcases the T1 for pre-booking and offers renewed devices from Samsung and Apple.
