Caller ID app Truecaller hits 500 million monthly users

The Sweden-based caller ID application, Truecaller, has announced that it has achieved a remarkable 500 million monthly active users. This milestone highlights the app's growing popularity, particularly in India, where it boasts over 350 million users. Notably, Truecaller has also expanded its reach beyond India, attracting 150 million users internationally. The company experienced significant growth, adding 50 million users in 2025 alone, and has effectively doubled its user base in the past five years. In April 2025, Truecaller reported having more than 450 million users. Additionally, over 4 million subscribers are currently utilizing its premium plans. Truecaller CEO Rishit Jhunjhunwala emphasized the increasing necessity for tools to combat spam and unwanted calls. He stated, "Reaching 500 million users demonstrates the scale of that need, and the trust people place in Truecaller to help make communication safer." He further reiterated the company's dedication to enhancing its platform with advanced technology to ensure user protection before, during, and after calls. In its pursuit of a safer communication landscape, Truecaller is also working to expand its offerings beyond caller identification. Recently, the app introduced a feature allowing a designated admin to manage and end calls for family group members to prevent scams. Furthermore, the company is exploring AI capabilities to screen and respond to calls, including monitoring disconnected calls for specific scam-related phrases. In India, Truecaller is navigating challenges posed by the Caller Name Presentation (CNAP) system, which reveals the registered names of callers. Despite these hurdles, Truecaller remains focused on its ambitious goal of reaching 1 billion users.
