Truecaller, the Swedish spam detection app, has announced that it will discontinue its call recording feature for iPhone users effective September 30, 2025. In a recent communication to TechCrunch, Nakul Kabra, the iOS Product Director, emphasized the company's decision to refocus on its primary services such as Live Caller ID and automatic spam blocking. Kabra stated, "It's true that Truecaller has decided to discontinue Call Recording for iPhone. We are doing this primarily so that we can concentrate on enhancing core functionalities." This feature, which was initially launched for iOS and reintroduced on Android in June 2023, saw its debut in India across various devices in 2024. The decision to eliminate the call recording feature follows Apple's introduction of native call recording and transcription capabilities in its iOS 18.1 update last year, which diminished the necessity for third-party applications like Truecaller. For iPhone users who have previously saved recordings, Truecaller is encouraging them to secure their files before the feature is removed. Users can download their recordings to their devices, share them via email, or utilize iCloud for storage. Truecaller has also provided a step-by-step guide on how to save these recordings in its help section, ensuring users have access to their important calls before the change takes effect.
