As the theatrical debut of TRON: Ares approaches in just a month, Disney is igniting excitement with a new trailer that transports viewers back to the iconic 1984 grid. In a surprising twist, the trailer features Kevin Flynn, portrayed by Jeff Bridges, reemerging in this digital realm. The storyline picks up after the events of TRON: Legacy, where Sam Flynn, played by Garrett Hedlund, thwarted the sinister plans of Clu, the Grid's malevolent program, to merge the digital world with reality. Alongside him was Quorra, an isomorphic algorithm, portrayed by Olivia Wilde, who was at risk of extinction due to Clu's ambitions. Initially announced in 2010, a third installment in the TRON franchise aimed to continue the narrative of Sam and Quorra as they navigated their new roles at ENCOM following Kevin Flynn's legacy. However, the project faced numerous setbacks and was ultimately shelved in 2015. Fast forward to 2020, the project was revived and reimagined as a standalone reboot, with the titular AI, Ares, making appearances in earlier drafts of the script. After overcoming challenges like the pandemic and Hollywood strikes, the film is finally set for release this fall, directed by Joachim Rønning. The plot centers around Ares, a sophisticated Program assigned a perilous mission that marks humanity's first encounter with AI entities. Jared Leto takes on the role of Ares, with Evan Peters and Greta Lee playing pivotal characters Julian Dillinger and Eve Kim. The ensemble cast also features Jodie Turner-Smith, Cameron Monaghan, Sarah Desjardins, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, and the returning Jeff Bridges. Adding to the film's allure, the soundtrack is crafted by Nine Inch Nails.
