In a bold move reflecting the evolution of artificial intelligence, Robert LoCascio, who recently stepped down as CEO of LivePerson after nearly 30 years, has embarked on a groundbreaking venture. Following advancements in generative AI, he established Eternos—a service aimed at preserving individuals' voices and life stories for their loved ones after they pass away. However, a significant pivot has occurred, leading to a rebranding as Uare.ai and a fresh mission. The startup garnered considerable attention when its initial client, Michael Bommer, a terminally ill individual, shared his experience of collaborating with Eternos to create a digital version of himself. This venture involved 25 hours of conversation, delving into his life, interests, and philosophy. Surprisingly, LoCascio discovered that most potential users were not simply preparing for death but were interested in creating personal AIs for various purposes. Uare.ai has developed the Human Life Model (HLM), a unique system that captures an individual's values, experiences, and decision-making processes by utilizing only their personal data. This approach contrasts with traditional large language models (LLMs) that rely on generalized datasets. LoCascio recognized an opportunity to leverage this technology beyond legacy preservation, enabling users to craft personal AIs that could assist in both professional and personal domains. Recently, Uare.ai announced a successful seed funding round, raising $10.3 million led by Mayfield and Boldstart Ventures. LoCascio emphasized the importance of ownership in AI development, stating, "You own the model, and you can share it and monetize it." The goal for Uare.ai is to serve as a powerful tool for creators and professionals, allowing them to utilize their digital replicas for content generation, customer interactions, and project execution. The platform, set to launch later this year, will empower individuals to train their HLMs by responding to a series of Uare.ai prompts about their lives—covering childhood experiences, pivotal moments, and professional backgrounds. This personalized approach ensures that the resulting AI reflects the user's unique narrative. Unlike other chatbots, Uare.ai's model will not resort to general LLMs for information that is not part of the HLM. Instead, it will acknowledge when it cannot provide an answer. Uare.ai plans to monetize its service through subscription fees or by taking a share of the revenue generated by users who earn income via their digital twins. As the landscape of personal AIs evolves, Uare.ai distinguishes itself by catering specifically to individual professionals, such as accountants, and benefits from LoCascio's entrepreneurial expertise.
