Google's Nano Banana Pro is rapidly establishing itself as a leading AI image generation tool, known for its remarkable ability to create images from textual descriptions and perform intricate edits while preserving original details. Since its inception, users have discovered innovative ways to utilize the model, including crafting infographics, designing product mockups, and generating eye-catching social media thumbnails. Recently, Google unveiled a novel application of Nano Banana Pro, enabling users to revitalize old photographs with just a simple text prompt. To begin, open the Gemini app or website and ensure you are logged in, ideally with a paid account. Navigate to the image generation menu and enter the prompt: "Faithfully restore this image with high fidelity to modern photograph quality, in full color, upscale to 4K." In addition to restoring images, users can also animate them into videos, providing a glimpse of how historical figures might have appeared in their prime. To create a video, return to Gemini, select the tools section, and click on create videos. Keep in mind that the Gemini video generator (Veo 3.1) is restricted to paid users. Alternatively, Grok's Imagine feature can be utilized to generate videos, offering a fun twist even if the quality is not as high as that of Gemini. Guided by curiosity, I decided to test Nano Banana Pro's capabilities by restoring several black and white images of Mahatma Gandhi obtained from the HT archive, transforming them into vibrant colorized versions. Furthermore, Nano Banana Pro integrates seamlessly with Google Search and operates on the advanced Gemini 3 Pro model, allowing it to generate infographics without needing specific prompts by pulling relevant information from the web. For instance, you can instruct Nano Banana Pro to create an infographic detailing a tea recipe or any culinary dish of your choice. In a recent experiment, I even leveraged Gemini to look up information about myself and subsequently requested Nano Banana Pro to generate an infographic based on my professional background, yielding impressive results.
