A new iOS application named Reelful harnesses the power of artificial intelligence to effortlessly convert your photo and video library into engaging, polished videos reminiscent of TikTok and Instagram Reels. This innovative tool is tailored for individuals who aspire to share content on social media but find conventional video editing software overwhelming or overly time-consuming. The launch of Reelful signals a significant transformation in the realm of video creation, as AI technology enables users to bypass traditional editing methods in favor of automated content generation. Reelful is part of an emerging cohort of AI startups, like Opus Clip and Captions, that are redefining how digital content is produced. Founded by Kate Deyneka, a former machine learning engineer at Snapchat, Reelful is currently participating in the a16z Speedrun program. Deyneka's experience in developing video and image models at Snapchat has informed her mission to create a streamlined video editing experience. She aims to free users from the tedious tasks of selecting clips, adding effects, and other editing chores. "I want to post more on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, but video editing takes a lot of time, and with my busy life as an early-stage founder, I can't afford to spend hours on it," Deyneka stated in a TechCrunch interview. She recognizes a common challenge among her fellow founders: the need for a robust online presence while managing a packed schedule. Reelful operates by prompting users to describe the narrative they wish to convey—be it a travel summary, product showcase, or event highlight. Users then create a voice clone with a 30-second recording and choose relevant photos and videos. The app takes over, scripting the content, generating an AI voiceover, and compiling the final video complete with captions, music, and sound effects. Furthermore, it can animate still images into engaging video clips—transforming a simple photo of someone slicing a mango into a dynamic short video. The AI-generated videos feature a watermark indicating their creation through artificial intelligence. Once the initial video is produced, users have the option to further refine their content by interacting with the app, whether it’s changing the soundtrack or modifying the script. Deyneka identifies the primary audience for Reelful as founders and business owners who need to produce consistent content to enhance their online presence or brand identity. For instance, a San Francisco salon might have a plethora of material showcasing its services but lack the time to create polished videos. Reelful aims to bridge that gap. "Imagine attending an event, meeting interesting people, and recording interviews. You could upload everything to the app while driving home, and by the time you arrive, your video is ready to share," Deyneka explained. She envisions a future where sharing life experiences and expertise is effortless and doesn’t require extensive editing. Reelful offers flexible pricing options, including one-time video purchases and subscription plans. Users can opt for bundles of five videos for $15, 15 videos for $43, or 33 videos for $90. Subscription plans include a “Creator” package for $25 per month for 10 videos, and a “Pro” package offering 25 videos per month for $50. There’s also a “Studio” plan for $100, providing 60 videos each month. While the app is currently exclusive to iOS, Deyneka has plans to expand to Android and web platforms in the future.
