Authorities in Illinois have charged a driver following a tragic accident in which a pedestrian was killed while she was livestreaming on TikTok. The Zion Police Department announced that Tynesha McCarty-Wroten, known on TikTok as Tea Tyme, faces serious charges including reckless homicide and aggravated use of a communications device resulting in death. Reports indicate that during a livestream, McCarty-Wroten was seen engaging with her audience when a sudden loud thud interrupted the broadcast. An offscreen child is heard asking, "What was that?" to which she responds, "I hit somebody." Investigators reviewed surveillance footage that allegedly captured McCarty-Wroten's vehicle entering an intersection against a red traffic signal. They determined that she did not appear to slow down or alter her path before colliding with Darren Lucas, who succumbed to his injuries shortly after at the hospital. In defense of McCarty-Wroten, her attorney stated that the evidence will reveal the incident was an accident born from negligence, emphasizing that it was neither intentional nor reckless in nature.
