Toyota busts out a new flagship Gazoo Racing coupe, plus GT3 version

In exciting automotive news, Toyota is making headlines with the introduction of a new flagship coupe under its Gazoo Racing sub-brand. The GR GT is set to hit the market at the end of next year, showcasing Toyota's commitment to performance engineering. This striking coupe features a design that prioritizes aerodynamics over traditional styling, marking a departure from Toyota’s usual approach. The vehicle is constructed with a highly rigid aluminum frame, a first for the automaker, and incorporates carbon fiber elements in the hood, roof, and other body panels to reduce overall weight. One of the key focuses during the GR GT's design was lowering the center of gravity. This is complemented by a unique transaxle layout, positioning the transmission behind the cockpit and between the rear wheels for optimal weight balance. The eight-speed automatic transmission utilizes a wet clutch system instead of the common torque converter, integrating the hybrid motor seamlessly. Powering the GR GT is a robust 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, paired with a hybrid system, delivering a remarkable combined output of 641 horsepower (478 kW) and 626 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque. Despite its advanced materials and design, the GR GT will have a weight of approximately 3,858 pounds (1,750 kg). Features of the new V8 include a short stroke, a hot-V configuration for the turbochargers, and dry sump lubrication, promising an exhilarating driving experience.
