Torq, a prominent player in the cybersecurity realm, is reportedly in advanced negotiations to acquire Jit, a Boston-based startup known for its automated security assistance, for approximately $50 million. This strategic acquisition aims to merge Torq's extensive security command capabilities with Jit's innovative tools, paving the way for a new era of 'agentic security.' This concept envisions smart AI agents functioning as autonomous web-based security operatives, capable of neutralizing digital threats without the need for human intervention. Although the acquisition is not yet finalized and terms could be subject to change, both organizations have opted not to provide any comments regarding the discussions. Just last month, Torq successfully secured $140 million in funding, elevating its valuation to $1.2 billion, backed by prominent investors such as Evolution Equity Partners and Bessemer Venture Partners. The urgency behind this potential deal reflects a growing trend in the cybersecurity sector, where companies are racing to integrate AI agents into their offerings. With the overwhelming influx of alerts generated by modern security systems, security teams are in dire need of solutions that can alleviate manual workloads and deliver real-time responses. Founded in 2020, Jit was created by industry veterans David Melamed and Aviram Shmueli and has attracted nearly $50 million in venture capital from firms including Boldstart Ventures and Tiger Global. The company welcomed Shai Horovitz, the former chief revenue officer at Cybereason, as its CEO earlier this year. Torq, also established in 2020 by experienced entrepreneurs Ofer Smadari, Leonid Belkind, and Eldad Livni, has embraced the slogan 'the Cursor of Security Operations' to signify its pivot towards agentic AI. Just as Cursor code accelerates software development through AI, Torq's autonomous agents aim to enhance the efficiency of security teams. Its clientele includes notable names like Abnormal Security and Chipotle Mexican Grill. This acquisition discussion follows Google's recent landmark $32 billion purchase of cybersecurity firm Wiz, marking one of the largest deals in the history of cybersecurity and highlighting the increasing value of innovative security solutions in today's digital landscape.
