Tinder launches ‘Double Date’ feature for friends to get matches together

Tinder is transforming the dating landscape by introducing an innovative feature that emphasizes social interaction. The newly launched Double Date option allows users to team up with friends to match with other pairs, creating a more relaxed and community-focused dating experience. Currently available in the United States and select international regions, Double Date enables users to swipe, match, and engage in conversations as a duo. This approach alleviates the pressure often associated with one-on-one interactions, facilitating a more enjoyable group dynamic. A wider global launch is anticipated for July. This feature builds on Tinder's previous community-oriented initiatives, such as Tinder Matchmaker and Share My Date, further enhancing the platform’s mission to make dating feel more genuine and less daunting. According to Tinder, activating Double Date is simple: users need to tap the icon in the upper right corner of their main card stack, select up to three friends, and begin their matching journey. Once both pairs express mutual interest, a group chat is initiated to plan their next steps, eliminating unnecessary formalities. Early feedback from testing has indicated a strong response, particularly among younger demographics. Approximately 90% of the profiles engaging with this feature are users under the age of 29, highlighting its popularity with Gen Z and younger millennials, who now represent over half of Tinder's global audience. Interestingly, the Double Date format appears to resonate particularly well with female users. Insights from Tinder's testing in 2025 revealed that women were three times more inclined to express interest in a pair compared to individual profiles. Additionally, users participating in Double Date chats sent 35% more messages than those in traditional one-on-one conversations. Tinder has also noted that this new feature has attracted both new and returning users, with nearly 15% of individuals who accepted a Double Date invitation being either brand-new or re-engaged users.
