Apple's CEO, Tim Cook, has stated that the recent price increases for the latest iPhone models are not influenced by the tariffs introduced by the Trump administration. Speaking to CNBC's Jim Cramer from the iconic Fifth Avenue store in New York City, Cook emphasized, "There's no increase for tariffs in the prices to be totally clear." This statement comes as Apple launched its newest iPhone model worldwide. This marks a rare moment where Cook directly addressed the impact of tariffs on iPhone pricing. Earlier this month, Apple raised the price of its iPhone 17 Pro by $100, while keeping the entry-level models at the same price point. Additionally, the company introduced a new Air model, which takes the place of the Plus model at a higher price. Despite Cook's reassurances, many industry analysts had predicted potential price hikes tied to tariffs. In an effort to mitigate the effects of these tariffs, Apple has shifted its supply chain to import iPhones from countries with lower tariffs, such as India and Vietnam, rather than relying solely on manufacturing in China, where production has historically taken place. Moreover, Cook has made several public appearances with President Trump, highlighting Apple's commitment of at least $600 billion towards enhancing U.S. manufacturing and supporting local suppliers. In the most recent quarter, Cook disclosed that the company incurred an $800 million expense due to tariffs. In addition to tariff-related challenges, Apple is also facing scrutiny over its gradual rollout of artificial intelligence features, alongside increasing competition in global markets like China. Cook remarked, "We have AI everywhere in the phone. We just don't call it that," indicating the company's ongoing integration of AI technology into its devices.
