TikTok has introduced 'Shared Collections,' a fresh feature designed for users to collaboratively share and organize their favorite TikTok content with friends and family. This innovative approach allows users to create dedicated spaces for various activities, like planning cookie swaps or brainstorming holiday dinner menus. With the earlier launch of individual Collections, users could already save content in personalized folders. Now, Shared Collections takes it one step further, enabling people to organize inspirations for home decor or even secret Santa gift ideas. In a recent blog post, TikTok emphasized that this feature is tailored to help users stay organized while discovering and saving content on the platform. To create a Shared Collection, both users must be following each other, ensuring a more personal and secure sharing experience. These collections can remain private or be made public, and they are available globally to users aged 16 and older. In addition to Shared Collections, TikTok hinted at an upcoming feature called 'Shared Feeds,' set to launch in the coming months. This feature aims to allow users to watch TikTok videos together through a feed curated around their shared interests. Users will be able to initiate Shared Feeds via one-on-one direct messages, where the content is tailored based on both users’ preferences—ranging from favorite creators to seasonal activities. Unlike a continuous feed, the Shared Feed will present a selection of 15 videos each day, offering a blend of entertainment that resonates with both users. This feature bears resemblance to Instagram Reels' Blend tool, which facilitates the creation of a custom reels experience for friends. To set up a Shared Feed, users can send an invitation to their contacts, and upon acceptance, they can start curating their feed and discussing their choices in direct messages. After viewing all the videos, they can analyze their engagement through metrics like 'Shared Likes,' which tracks mutual interests. Additionally, TikTok is launching a greeting card feature, allowing users to send festive animations and personalized messages within chats, further enhancing the social experience on the platform.
