In a significant update, TikTok has introduced a variety of new features aimed at enhancing user safety and supporting creators. Among the key additions are improved parental controls, innovative tools for content creators, and an interactive feature focused on digital well-being. The updated Family Pairing feature allows parents to connect their accounts with their teenagers, enabling them to customize safety settings more effectively. Parents now possess the ability to block specific accounts, ensuring that their teens do not interact with or view content from those accounts. Furthermore, parents will receive automatic notifications whenever their teen uploads a public video, story, or photo, allowing them to stay informed while still encouraging creativity. In terms of privacy, parents can gain insights into their teen's settings, such as whether their content is downloadable or if their follower list is visible to others. Additionally, TikTok is rolling out a new feature called “Creator Care Mode,” which leverages AI to automatically filter out offensive, inappropriate, or profane comments. This mode also prevents comments from users who have previously been reported or disliked by the creator. To further enhance the creator experience, a new tool for TikTok Live will enable creators to block specific words from their comment sections entirely. Users who previously commented with the blocked phrases will be muted for a duration set by the creator. TikTok is also launching a revamped messaging system called the “Creator Inbox,” which will help creators manage their interactions more effectively. This inbox includes options for marking messages as unread or starred, as well as the ability to set custom responses for frequently asked questions. Another exciting feature is the introduction of “Creator Chat Room,” inspired by Instagram's broadcast channels, allowing creators aged 18 and older with a minimum of 5,000 followers to share exclusive updates and engage with their audience. Each chat room can accommodate up to 300 participants, and creators can establish multiple rooms. Moreover, TikTok is introducing “Content Check Lite,” allowing creators to verify if their content meets the guidelines for appearing in the For You feed. This proactive measure enables creators to make adjustments before their content goes live. Additionally, TikTok is testing a more extensive Content Check feature to ensure compliance with community guidelines prior to publication. Lastly, TikTok is launching Well-being Missions, which consist of engaging quizzes and interactive flashcards designed to foster healthier digital habits. Users can earn badges upon completion of these missions, and TikTok is developing a dedicated digital well-being experience within the app, featuring tools such as breathing exercises, calming audio, and insights into screen time, aimed at helping users find balance in their online activities.
