Khaby Lame, the most followed creator on TikTok, has found himself at the center of controversy after being detained by U.S. immigration authorities in Las Vegas. Following his detention, reports indicate that Lame has departed the United States, according to The New York Times. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) revealed that Lame, an influencer of Italian-Senegalese descent, overstayed his visa, which he obtained upon his arrival in April. He has since been granted voluntary departure and is currently outside the country. The incident gained significant attention after fellow influencer Bo Loudon took to X to announce that he had alerted authorities regarding Lame's immigration status. Known for sharing political commentary, Loudon claimed he reached out to his contacts to report the situation. At just 25 years old, Lame has amassed a colossal following and secured numerous lucrative brand partnerships, rising to fame during the pandemic after losing his job. His collaborations include major brands like Hugo Boss, and he has also made a brief appearance in a Hollywood film, in addition to featuring in a travel series showcasing his experiences in the U.S. As of now, Lame has not publicly commented on the events surrounding his detention.
