Threads now lets you approve and filter your replies

Meta's social networking platform, Threads, has rolled out a series of innovative features aimed at enhancing user experience and conversation management. Following the introduction of communities and ephemeral 'ghost posts,' the latest update, announced on Thursday, empowers users with greater control over their conversations. A standout addition is the reply approval feature, which allows users to pre-approve replies before they become visible to others. This new tool offers an alternative for those who prefer open discussions without the risk of negative interactions derailing the conversation. While Threads already provided options to restrict replies to certain groups—such as followers or mentioned users—this enhancement allows for a more inclusive dialogue while ensuring that the poster maintains authority over the discussion's tone. In addition to reply approvals, Threads is launching new filters for the Activity feed, enabling users to easily sift through replies from followed accounts or those that include mentions. These filters join existing options like Verified, Quotes, and Reposts, further refining the way users engage with content. Meta recently shared exciting growth statistics during its third-quarter earnings call, revealing that Threads has surged to 150 million daily active users, a significant jump from over 100 million in December 2024. Additionally, the platform has surpassed 400 million monthly active users. As Threads continues to expand its user base, Meta is also focused on monetization strategies, having introduced global ads and preparing to launch video advertisements. Moreover, Threads is in the process of testing new features that will allow users to customize their algorithm by selecting topics of interest, as shared by Instagram head Adam Mosseri. This ongoing development reflects Meta's commitment to continuously enhancing user engagement and satisfaction on the platform.
