Weekly Tech Recap: Resident Evil Requiem release date revealed and more

As the tech world buzzes with activity, this week brought a slew of significant announcements that are shaping the landscape of gaming, software, and mobile technology. Notably, Capcom has unveiled the release date for their highly anticipated title, Resident Evil Requiem, set to launch on February 27, 2026, across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox. Fans can expect more chilling details as Capcom plans to share further insights and a playable version at Gamescom 2025. This new entry follows the success of Resident Evil Village, which hit the shelves in 2021, and continues the legacy initiated by Shinji Mikami and Tokuro Fujiwara back in 1996. On a different front, Apple users have reported a frustrating issue following the iOS 18.5 update, with many experiencing a blank screen when attempting to open the Mail app. Despite the update being released last month, complaints have escalated, filling forums like Apple Communities and Reddit. Users have described the app becoming unresponsive or crashing entirely. While Apple has yet to respond officially or provide a fix, many are trying temporary solutions, including restarting their devices, force-closing the app, and even reinstalling it to mitigate the problem. In another exciting development, Google has enhanced its Gemini AI with a new feature that allows users to schedule tasks, making it easier to manage their activities proactively. This functionality, first introduced at Google’s I/O conference last month, is now being rolled out to paying subscribers of AI Pro and AI Ultra, as well as certain Google Workspace business and education plans. With this update, Gemini can handle both one-off and recurring tasks, adjusting to the user’s needs. Meanwhile, Microsoft has launched Copilot Shopping, an AI-driven shopping experience integrated into its Copilot app for web and mobile. This innovative feature, revealed during Microsoft’s 50th anniversary celebrations, aims to revolutionize the online shopping process by allowing users to discover, compare, and purchase products through natural language queries, all without leaving the app. Lastly, OnePlus has officially launched the OnePlus 13s, a compact flagship that retains most of the specifications of the OnePlus 13T, with notable upgrades. The selfie camera has been improved to a 32MP autofocus, though the battery capacity has slightly decreased to 5,850 mAh. Priced starting at ₹55,000 in India, the OnePlus 13s will be available for purchase starting June 12.
