Would I want to manifest my 'dream life' using AI? Hmm …

The trend of using artificial intelligence to manifest one's dream life has gained traction on platforms like TikTok, prompting many to explore how AI can enhance traditional manifestation practices. Recently, I found myself considering this phenomenon after an editor pointed out its resurgence. In September, my colleague Ana Altchek reported that users were incorporating AI tools like ChatGPT into their manifestation routines, which include techniques such as visualization, vision boards, and positive affirmations. Intrigued, I decided to delve deeper into how people are utilizing AI to create narratives about their ideal lives. For instance, individuals input their aspirations—like achieving wealth, perfect skin, or a picturesque family life in a villa in Italy—and AI generates a story that aligns with these goals. Curious about this process, I prompted ChatGPT to craft a narrative about a day in my imagined Italian villa. The resulting story was undeniably appealing. However, when I requested actionable steps to realize this fantasy, the advice became somewhat convoluted. While it provided sensible suggestions for achieving flawless skin, such as consulting a top dermatologist, the guidance for becoming financially successful was less clear-cut. The algorithm suggested scaling income to $500K annually, which seemed a lofty goal without a more detailed plan. Acknowledging my personal skepticism towards manifestation, I reached out to individuals who embraced this life hack. Many expressed a strong belief in the power of manifestation, aligning their goals with their aspirations. Notably, I noticed these individuals were often younger and just starting their journeys, while I find myself in a different phase of life, content with simpler objectives. An intriguing twist to this trend involves the creation of AI-generated videos that portray users in their dream scenarios. The New York Times recently highlighted tools like Runway and Google’s Veo 3, which allow users to upload their images and produce videos depicting their ideal lives. I attempted to use Freepik for this purpose but encountered a paywall that deterred me from pursuing it further. Ultimately, while the concept of seeing myself in a dream life video is not particularly appealing to me, I recognize that for many, this innovative approach to manifestation can be inspiring. Perhaps I lack the enthusiasm for this trend or the desire to engage with such content. Regardless, I find joy in nurturing my modest cherry tomato plant and envisioning my dreams in my own way.
