Pebble’s smartwatch is back: Pebble Time 2 specs revealed

Eric Migicovsky, the visionary behind the original Pebble smartwatch, unveiled the latest designs for the anticipated Pebble Time 2 on Wednesday. Initially introduced as the Core 2 Duo and Core Time 2 during its market comeback announcement in March, the company has successfully reclaimed the Pebble trademark, leading to the rebranding of the new models to Pebble 2 Duo and Pebble Time 2. In a recent blog post, Migicovsky shared insights into the final design of the Pebble Time 2, highlighting significant changes in its industrial design along with the addition of exciting new features. The smartwatch will be offered in a selection of four colors, which will be decided based on user feedback. Noteworthy enhancements include a vibrant multicolor RGB LED backlight, a second microphone aimed at improving environmental noise cancellation, a built-in compass sensor, and a robust screw-mounted back cover. The watch's construction features stainless steel both on its front and back, complemented by stainless steel buttons reminiscent of the classic Pebble Time Steel. Retaining some of its predecessor's beloved characteristics, the Pebble Time 2 will come equipped with a 1.5-inch 64-color e-paper display, a responsive touch screen, a quick-release 22mm watch strap, and a durable flat hardened glass lens. Users can expect an impressive 30-day battery life, heart rate monitoring, step and sleep tracking, a built-in speaker, and a linear actuator motor for vibration alerts. The watch will also boast a waterproof rating, details of which are yet to be finalized. Available for pre-order at a price of $225, the Pebble Time 2 seamlessly connects to smartphones via Bluetooth, enabling users to receive notifications, manage music playback, and access the internet. Customers who have pre-ordered the Core 2 Duo can upgrade to the Pebble Time 2 without losing their place in line by responding to an email survey that will be sent out in the coming month.
