After all the hype, some AI experts don’t think OpenClaw is all that exciting

Ian Ahl, CTO at Permiso Security, highlighted significant security flaws within Moltbook’s infrastructure, noting that numerous credentials were unsecured for a period, allowing any user to impersonate AI agents. This scenario raised questions about the authenticity of the interactions on Moltbook, where anyone could create an account and simulate AI behavior without any safeguards. John Hammond from Huntress pointed out that this lack of security compromised the integrity of discussions, enabling human users to pose as bots freely. Despite the chaos, the moment sparked a unique cultural phenomenon, showcasing various AI-centric social interactions, including a Tinder-style interface for agents. Yet, this incident also highlighted the broader issues surrounding OpenClaw, a project initiated by Austrian developer Peter Steinberger, which, while innovative, suffers from significant cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
