In a recent interview, Take-Two Interactive's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, asserted that while gaming consoles are here to stay, the industry is increasingly gravitating towards PC gaming over the next decade. During his appearance on CNBC's "Squawk Box," Zelnick emphasized, "I think it's moving towards PC and business is moving towards open rather than closed." He elaborated that if one considers consoles as a type of property rather than just a system, the appeal of immersive, lengthy gaming experiences on large screens will endure. According to Zelnick, the current market is fairly balanced between console and mobile gaming, though mobile is experiencing faster growth. Despite the success of established consoles like Sony's PlayStation and Nintendo's offerings, which continue to thrive, competitors such as Microsoft's Xbox are signaling a shift towards more PC-oriented gaming in future hardware releases. This transition is further underscored by Valve's recent unveiling of the Steam Machine, a console-PC hybrid that allows users to enjoy PC games on their televisions or as standard gaming computers.
