The Boysgears up for a Supe-ocalypse in S5 teaser

An extended teaser for the highly anticipated fifth and final season of The Boys has been unveiled by Prime Video during the CCXP event in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Based on the acclaimed comic series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the new footage promises an intense showdown as the formidable Homelander seeks vengeance on The Boys. Following the dramatic events of Season 4, the stakes are higher than ever. The Boys narrowly prevented the assassination of newly elected U.S. President Robert Singer. However, the power dynamics shifted dramatically with the rise of the new Vought CEO, Sister Sage, who manipulated the election to install Senator Steve Calhoun as president. Under his rule, martial law has been declared, with Homelander serving as his ruthless enforcer. While Butcher and Annie managed to escape, the rest of The Boys have been captured and confined to re-education camps. The spinoff series Gen V, which is set after these events, concluded with Annie rallying her team to rise against Homelander and the Supes. The upcoming season of The Boys picks up right where Gen V left off. In this climactic season, Homelander's erratic whims dictate the world around him, while Hughie, Mother's Milk, and Frenchie find themselves imprisoned in a so-called “Freedom Camp.” Annie faces the daunting task of mounting a resistance against the overwhelming power of the Supes, with Kimiko missing from the fray. The turning point arrives when Butcher makes a dramatic return, armed with a virus capable of eradicating all Supes, setting off a series of events that will irrevocably alter the course of their world. The final season sees most of the beloved main cast returning, despite the absence of Claudia Doumit’s character, Victoria Neuman. Fans can also expect the return of Soldier Boy, played by Jensen Ackles, who was revealed in the Season 4 mid-credits scene to still be alive and in cryostasis. Showrunner Eric Kripke has hinted at exploring the complex father-son dynamic between Soldier Boy and Homelander as the story unfolds, especially considering Soldier Boy's unexpected alliance with the Supes after previous conflicts with Butcher.
