BMW bumps the 7 Series for 2027, adds all-new battery

BMW is set to unveil its 2027 7 Series, a significant update to its flagship sedan that takes inspiration from the company's innovative Neue Klasse models. Originally introduced in 1968, the Neue Klasse laid the foundation for the brand's evolution, and now, the latest iteration seeks to blend tradition with modern technology. This new version is not just a standard refresh; it embodies a comprehensive transformation that incorporates advanced features and design elements from BMW's electric vehicle line, including the iX3 and i3. While the 7 Series may still carry a robust presence reminiscent of its predecessors, the infusion of Neue Klasse characteristics introduces a fresh aesthetic. Noteworthy changes include a more streamlined rear bumper and a refined front end that replaces the previous split-lighting design with a more cohesive look. The vehicle's imposing twin-kidney grille remains a defining feature, celebrated for its uniqueness in the automotive landscape, according to Maximilian Missoni, the lead designer for midsize and large vehicles at BMW. Inside, the 2027 7 Series showcases the cutting-edge Panoramic iDrive Display, which was first seen in the Neue Klasse EVs. This high-mounted screen is designed to keep essential information within the driver's line of sight, flanked by a high-tech gauge cluster and customizable widgets, including the option to display images of classic BMW Art Cars. Additionally, the cabin features a substantial 17.9-inch touchscreen for the central console and a 14.6-inch display for front passengers. Moreover, the 7 Series introduces innovative automatic doors equipped with integrated servos and radars to ensure smooth operation. The external flush handles allow for easy access with a simple touch, reflecting BMW's commitment to both luxury and functionality in this new flagship model.
