As Tesla navigates a challenging financial landscape and an aging vehicle lineup, the company is actively pursuing new business ventures. CEO Elon Musk envisions a future where Optimus robots could assist in various tasks, including monitoring individuals to deter criminal activity, although this technology is still under development. In a significant step towards realizing its robotaxi service, Tesla has begun limited operations in Austin, Texas, and select areas of San Francisco. However, recent events have raised serious questions about the safety measures in place for this service. A passenger in San Francisco recently shared a troubling video on Reddit, showing a safety driver dozing off at the wheel during their robotaxi ride. The incident, which occurred just over a week ago, has sparked concern among users. The Reddit user, identified as ohmichael, reported that the driver fell asleep three times throughout the journey. In the 12-second video clip, viewers can see the driver slumped in the front seat before waking up in a moving vehicle. The passenger stated that he attempted to contact Tesla regarding the alarming behavior but did not receive any response from the company.
