Tesla has released its vehicle delivery and production figures for the first quarter of 2026, revealing a 14% decrease compared to the previous quarter. Despite this dip, the company is displaying signs of recovery after experiencing annual declines over the past two years. Analysts had anticipated approximately 370,000 deliveries, with Tesla's own estimates suggesting around 365,645 deliveries for the same period. In the first quarter of 2025, the company recorded 336,681 deliveries, marking a 13% fall from the previous year. Overall, Tesla's total deliveries for 2025 dropped to 1.64 million from 1.79 million in 2024. The report indicates that the Model 3 sedan and Model Y SUVs remain the company's best sellers, accounting for a combined total of 341,893 deliveries for the quarter. Although deliveries serve as a close approximation of sales, they are not explicitly detailed in Tesla's shareholder communications. With Elon Musk shifting focus towards the development of the driverless Cybercab and Optimus humanoid robots, Tesla continues to depend heavily on its traditional auto sales for revenue. Earlier this year, the company announced the discontinuation of its flagship Model S and X vehicles, reallocating their production lines in Fremont, California, to manufacture Optimus robots. Musk confirmed on his social media platform, X, that orders for the S and X models have concluded, although some inventory remains. He expressed nostalgia for these vehicles, stating, "We will have an official ceremony to mark the ending of an era. I love those cars." The highly anticipated Cybertruck, which began deliveries in late 2023, has yet to achieve mainstream success. Looking ahead, Tesla is preparing to increase deliveries of its all-electric Semi truck in 2026, which boasts a claimed range of 500 miles. This story is developing, and updates will follow as more information becomes available.
