Tesla has unveiled its financial results for the first quarter of 2026, just ahead of an anticipated investor conference. The electric vehicle manufacturer, which has become a topic of debate among consumers and investors alike, boasts a market valuation of $1.21 trillion as of now. The company had previously hinted at a positive performance with its delivery announcement in early April, reporting a sales increase of over 6% compared to the same period in 2025. This growth translated into a profitable quarter for Tesla, with net earnings reaching $477 million. Year-over-year revenue surged by 16%, totaling $22.4 billion. Automotive sales were a significant contributor to this revenue boost, also rising by 16% to $16.2 billion. Additionally, Tesla experienced a remarkable 42% increase in revenue from services—including Supercharger fees—reflecting the company's expanding revenue streams. However, the energy storage segment faced a downturn, with revenues dropping by 12% to $2.4 billion during the same quarter. While Tesla's operating margin stands at 4.2%, a noticeable decline from its historical double-digit figures, the situation has improved compared to 2025. The automotive giant generated $380 million from regulatory credits, a decrease from $595 million in Q1 2025, and also saw reduced earnings from leasing. Operating expenses have risen, largely due to investments in AI and part of the substantial $1 trillion compensation package granted to CEO Elon Musk by shareholders last November.
