Raj Jegannathan, the Vice President of IT, AI-infrastructure, Business Apps, and InfoSec at Tesla, has officially announced his resignation after 13 years with the company. His departure was shared in a brief post on LinkedIn, where he reflected on his time at Tesla, stating, "The journey at Tesla has been one of continuous evolution." In the past year, Jegannathan took on a significant role in leading Tesla's sales team, following the dismissal of Troy Jones, the former North America sales leader. His leadership came at a challenging time for the automaker, as it faced declining core automotive sales and a tarnished brand image. Factors contributing to these challenges include an aging lineup of electric vehicles and growing consumer dissatisfaction linked to CEO Elon Musk's controversial political statements and affiliations. As Tesla grapples with these issues, including a notable 3% drop in revenue for 2025—the first decline on record—the company is under increasing pressure to rejuvenate its electric vehicle sales. Additionally, there are high expectations for the long-awaited rollout of its autonomous driving systems that promise to revolutionize passenger transport without human intervention. Both Tesla and Jegannathan have yet to comment further on the transition.
