Tesla opens first charging station in Gurugram, expands EV network in India

Tesla has officially launched its inaugural charging station in Gurugram, representing a pivotal advancement in the company's efforts to enhance the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure throughout India. Situated at the DLF Horizon Center, this new facility follows the recent debut of the Tesla Center in the city. The charging station is equipped with four V4 Superchargers, each capable of delivering peak charging speeds of up to 250 kW. Additionally, it features three Destination Chargers that provide charging speeds of up to 11 kW. This diverse setup is designed to accommodate varying charging requirements, whether for quick top-ups or longer stays. Tesla highlights that using a Supercharger, a Model Y can achieve an impressive range of up to 275 km in just 15 minutes. The company emphasizes that its charging network is engineered around a seamless “Plug In, Charge and Go” experience, boasting a remarkable 99.95 percent uptime to ensure minimal disruptions for drivers. The Tesla app plays a crucial role in this ecosystem, allowing vehicle owners to easily navigate to charging stations, check charger availability, monitor charging progress, receive notifications, and complete payments—all within a single interface. Users can even precondition their vehicles before arrival to enhance convenience. With the launch in Gurugram, Tesla now operates a total of three charging locations across India, featuring 12 Superchargers and 10 Destination Chargers. The other locations are strategically placed at Worldmark in Delhi and One BKC in Mumbai. To help customers become acquainted with its innovative charging technology, Tesla will conduct interactive workshops at the Horizon Center charging station from December 17 to December 21. These sessions aim to showcase the functionality of Superchargers and Destination Chargers while also educating attendees about electric mobility and sustainable energy solutions. This expansion underscores Tesla's commitment to solidifying its presence in India, where the Model Y is available starting at INR 59,89,000, with home charging support included as part of the ownership experience.
