A Tel Aviv-based startup, Shapes, has successfully secured $24 million in funding to enhance human resources (HR) processes through the use of AI agents. Specializing in automating tasks such as onboarding and compensation, Shapes provides an innovative HR platform that resembles an app store filled with AI-driven tools. According to co-founder and CEO Arnon Nir, this platform allows organizations to tailor their employee management strategies. Users can install various AI applications and agents to streamline their HR operations. For instance, one AI agent can alert HR personnel if an employee shows signs of potential turnover by analyzing factors such as salary levels, performance metrics, and recent absences. The capabilities of Shapes' AI agents extend beyond onboarding, automating workflows related to payroll and contract creation based on specific requests from HR staff. Employees also benefit from the platform, which enables them to handle HR tasks like scheduling time off and obtaining information regarding company policies. Founded in 2020 by Nir and Shirley Baumer—both of whom were part of the founding team at HR tech company Monday.com—Shapes has rebranded from its previous identity as DreamTeam. The company's modular design, referred to as "PeopleOS," allows clients to create customized applications using prompts in a manner similar to vibe coding. This flexibility is particularly valuable in an era where company sizes frequently fluctuate due to varying workforce demands. Baumer highlighted the need for companies to reassess their structures and cultures, stating, "Every company needs to find itself from scratch." The HR tech landscape is becoming increasingly competitive, with prominent players like Workday and HiBob integrating AI into their offerings. Nir emphasized that the modular nature of Shapes' software sets it apart, allowing companies to choose the tools that best suit their operational needs. Currently, Shapes serves hundreds of clients across 79 countries and 14 industries, including retail, manufacturing, and technology. Notable customers include Quantum Machines, NextSilicon, Healthee, Arena Entertainment, and Imagen. Operating on a software-as-a-service model, Shapes charges a flat rate per employee. The recent funding includes $15 million from a Series A round, which closed in October, alongside a previously undisclosed $4.5 million seed investment and a $4.5 million seed extension. The Series A round was led by Entrée Capital, with NFX and F2 Venture Capital also participating. The company plans to utilize this funding to significantly increase its workforce and expand into new markets over the next year.
