At just 19 years old, Mathieu Rihet had aspirations of becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon. However, a diagnosis of essential tremors led him to pivot towards entrepreneurship. While studying at Emory University, he connected with 18-year-old Georges Casassovici, who was on the lookout for a non-technical cofounder to develop a startup. The duo began collaborating online, and their innovation journey took a significant turn when they were accepted into Y Combinator's Spring 2025 cohort. This prompted both to leave their academic pursuits behind and focus entirely on their startup, Novoflow, which aims to create AI agents specifically designed for medical clinics. The inception of Novoflow was inspired by Rihet's firsthand experiences as a medical translator, where he observed inefficiencies within the healthcare system. This year, the founders met for the first time in San Francisco, where they are currently working in a live-work space, which will also accommodate two future employees. Novoflow has developed an AI solution that automates various tasks and integrates multiple electronic health record systems, initially targeting cancellation recovery and appointment scheduling. Recently, the startup secured $3.1 million in funding, with contributions from notable investors including super angel Justin Hamilton, N1 Ventures, Multifaceted Capital, and Standard Partners Fund. Looking ahead, Rihet envisions a future where AI could overhaul the entire operational landscape of medical clinics, encompassing everything from billing to scheduling and prescription fulfillment. Currently, their team consists of a junior founding engineer and an account executive. The funding will be allocated towards hiring two additional engineers and another sales executive. Despite dropping out, Casassovici still managed to graduate high school with a diploma by opting for pass/fail grading. Both founders have expressed no intention of returning to their academic institutions, as they remain fully committed to their venture.
