At just 18 years old, Arlan Rakhmetzhanov has made waves in the tech world by raising $6.2 million for his AI coding startup, Nozomio, after completing the prestigious Y Combinator program. The young founder's journey began in his hometown of Almaty, Kazakhstan, where his entrepreneurial spirit was nurtured by his parents, both of whom are business owners. Rakhmetzhanov's fascination with entrepreneurship was sparked at a young age. He recalls a pivotal moment during a walk with his father when he first learned about Y Combinator, a renowned accelerator for startups. This encounter ignited a passion that led him to experiment with coding and entrepreneurship from an early age. By the time he was 15, he had launched his first company inspired by the release of ChatGPT. His commitment to coding intensified, prompting him to take a leap of faith. After launching his product lab in December, he introduced a tool called Nia, designed for coding agents. The tool gained traction quickly, earning "product of the day" on Product Hunt. This success prompted him to seek feedback from fellow founders, leading to an early investment and a whirlwind of opportunities. Rakhmetzhanov's journey took a dramatic turn when he decided to drop out of high school to pursue his dreams full-time. After attending a talent investor event in London, he returned home ready to fully commit to his startup. Despite initial concerns from his mother, who feared for his future without a backup plan, she eventually came to understand his dedication. In April, after two previous unsuccessful applications, he secured a coveted spot in Y Combinator's summer batch, a moment that left him elated. The funding he garnered from various investors, including prominent names from the tech industry, has set the stage for Nozomio's growth. As a young entrepreneur, Rakhmetzhanov believes that his age provides him with unique advantages in the fast-paced world of AI development. He plans to leverage his funding to bring on additional talent, focusing on building a team of young innovators like himself. His vision is clear: to create a highly efficient startup with a strong emphasis on talent density as he navigates the future of technology.
