Tecno has announced the upcoming launch of its new smartphone, the Tecno Pova Slim 5G, set to debut in India on September 4 at 12 noon. The company is touting this device as the "World’s Slimmest 3D Curved Display 5G Smartphone," creating significant buzz ahead of its release. This launch comes just days before Apple's anticipated unveiling of the iPhone 17 Air, which is rumored to be a contender in the slim phone category. Earlier this year, during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Tecno showcased a concept device, the Tecno Spark Slim, which boasted an impressive thickness of just 5.75mm. The design of the Pova Slim closely resembles that concept, suggesting that it may also feature a similar slender profile. If the Pova Slim indeed mirrors the Spark Slim's thickness, it could measure only 5.75mm, potentially making it slimmer than Samsung's Galaxy S25 Edge. However, it's worth noting that the iPhone 17 Air is expected to debut shortly thereafter with a thickness of approximately 5.5mm, possibly surpassing Tecno’s offering. The Tecno Pova Slim 5G is rumored to sport a 6.78-inch OLED display with a high refresh rate of up to 144Hz. Despite its sleek design, the smartphone is likely to house a robust 5,200mAh battery. While details about the camera specifications remain limited, the device is anticipated to include a 50MP primary sensor, among others. In promotional images released by Tecno, the phone features an elegant curved white frame alongside a distinctive horizontal camera island. The dual-camera setup is complemented by a LED flash and an innovative feature called the "Dynamic Mood Light," which activates during calls and notifications. Running on Tecno's HiOS 15 based on Android 15, the Pova Slim is expected to include advanced AI capabilities, such as the Ella AI assistant, a circular search functionality, and an AI writing assistant. With a compelling mix of features, Tecno aims to carve out a niche in the competitive smartphone landscape.
