Former GitHub CEO raises record $60M dev tool seed round at $300M valuation

Thomas Dohmke, the former CEO of GitHub, has made headlines by successfully raising a record-breaking $60 million seed funding for his new startup, Entire. This substantial investment values the company at an impressive $300 million, as reported by lead investor Felicis. Entire is pioneering a novel open-source solution designed to assist developers in managing code generated by AI agents. The startup’s technology comprises three key elements. First, it features a git-compatible database that consolidates code created by AI, leveraging the widely-used git version control system favored by enterprises and open-source platforms like GitHub and GitLab. The second component is a “universal semantic reasoning layer,” which enables seamless collaboration among multiple AI agents. Lastly, Entire introduces an AI-driven user interface tailored for effective agent-to-human interactions. The first offering from Entire is an innovative open-source tool named Checkpoints. This tool automatically associates every piece of AI-generated software with the relevant context, including prompts and transcripts, facilitating a deeper understanding for human developers. The aim is to empower developers to review and comprehend the reasoning behind the AI’s decisions, a necessity as the volume of AI-generated code continues to surge. Dohmke emphasized the challenges faced by developers today, particularly in open-source projects overwhelmed by questionable code contributions from AI. He stated, “We are living through an agent boom, and now massive volumes of code are being generated faster than any human could reasonably understand.” Dohmke, who served as GitHub’s CEO for four years until August 2025, oversaw the emergence of GitHub Copilot, a popular coding assistant. The recent funding round also attracted notable investors, including Madrona, M12, Basis Set, Harry Stebbings, Jerry Yang, and Datadog’s co-founder and CEO Olivier Pomel.
