AI is nothing artificial, but it is intelligent, says Tata Group Chairman Chandrasekaran at the AI Summit

At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of the Tata Group, declared that artificial intelligence is not merely artificial but embodies various forms of intelligence. Speaking on the significance of AI in front of global leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he emphasized its foundational role across all industries. Chandrasekaran stated, "AI is a real technology that learns from data and evolves at an incredible pace. It operates beyond fixed rules and has the remarkable ability to scale quickly. To me, AI represents the next major infrastructure, akin to the steam engine, electricity, or the internet." He highlighted the importance of making AI accessible to everyone, ensuring that its benefits reach even the most marginalized individuals. A notable example he provided was the Tata AI Sakhi initiative, where 500 rural women, unfamiliar with computing or digital tools, successfully learned to utilize AI to create products and marketing strategies in just four hours, showcasing their skills to an international audience. Chandrasekaran further elaborated on AI's potential to revolutionize public service delivery and impact global enterprises significantly. He also addressed the IT sector, noting it holds tremendous opportunities for growth. With a deep understanding of business and technology landscapes, the IT industry is poised to leverage AI to enhance its value within various processes and ecosystems, effectively connecting enterprises with their customers and partners.
