Tata and Intel partner to create silicon and compute ecosystem in India

In a groundbreaking move, the Tata Group has teamed up with Intel Corporation to enhance India's semiconductor and computing capabilities. The formalization of their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on December 8, 2025, marks a significant milestone in establishing a resilient electronics and semiconductor supply chain within the country. The partnership focuses on advancing consumer and enterprise hardware, as well as semiconductor manufacturing and packaging. Notably, Intel and Tata are set to explore the production and packaging of Intel products for domestic markets at Tata Electronics’ upcoming fabrication and Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facilities. Additionally, they plan to collaborate on advanced packaging initiatives in India. An exciting aspect of this alliance involves scaling customized AI PC solutions tailored for both the consumer and enterprise sectors, with projections indicating that India will rank among the top five global markets by 2030. This initiative will utilize Intel’s AI computing reference designs alongside Tata Electronics’ manufacturing services. N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, emphasized the strategic importance of this venture, stating, “The Tata Group is deeply committed to fostering a strong semiconductor industry in India. Our collaboration with Intel is set to accelerate these efforts, enabling us to create a robust technology ecosystem and deliver top-tier semiconductor and system solutions that capitalize on the burgeoning AI market.” Intel Corporation’s CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the vast market potential. He remarked, “Intel’s technology has been a catalyst for decades of computing innovation, and our goal is to expand our footprint and enhance value for our customers. Partnering with Tata presents an exceptional opportunity to rapidly grow in one of the world’s fastest-expanding computing markets, spurred by increasing demand for PCs and swift AI adoption across India.” Dr. Randhir Thakur, CEO & Managing Director of Tata Electronics, noted that the MoU aligns seamlessly with Tata Electronics’ strategy across manufacturing, assembly, and semiconductor fabrication, which will ensure a reliable and resilient supply chain for their clients. This powerful partnership is poised to enhance cost-effectiveness and accelerate the introduction of next-generation AI computing solutions in the region.
