In an exciting development for retail technology, Target is preparing to launch a new app powered by ChatGPT, designed to enhance the shopping experience for customers. This innovative app is expected to debut in the coming weeks, marking a significant expansion of OpenAI's presence in the retail sector. This initiative follows OpenAI’s recent efforts to integrate various retail applications into ChatGPT, including popular platforms like Canva, Coursera, Figma, Expedia, Spotify, and Zillow. As OpenAI accelerates its push into AI-driven commerce, products like the upcoming 'Instant Checkout' feature will allow consumers to make purchases seamlessly during their interactions with retailers such as Etsy and Shopify. The Target app will be rolled out in beta next week, enabling shoppers to request product ideas, create and manage multi-item shopping baskets, order groceries, and complete transactions—all within the ChatGPT interface. This launch strengthens the existing partnership between Target and OpenAI. Additionally, Target plans to implement ChatGPT Enterprise across its workforce of 18,000 employees at its headquarters. This tool aims to enhance various operational aspects, including supply chain management and store processes. OpenAI’s models will also be integrated into Target’s digital platforms, driving improvements in employee assistance, customer service, and personalized shopping experiences, including AI-powered gift recommendations.
