We tried 4 AI matchmaking apps. We're still single.

In an era where technology meets romance, we embarked on a journey to explore four AI-powered matchmaking apps, hoping to find love but ultimately remaining single. From the expansive user base of Facebook Dating to the niche offerings of startups like Sitch, Amata, and Three Day Rule, we delved into the evolving landscape of dating in the age of artificial intelligence. Our exploration began with enthusiasm as we interacted with chatbot matchmakers and evaluated potential profiles. Each app promised a fresh approach to dating, aiming to connect users more thoughtfully rather than through the traditional swiping method. Ludovic Huraux, founder of Amata, emphasized their commitment to fostering genuine connections by filtering out emotionally unavailable users. However, our experiences revealed that these apps, while innovative, still resembled conventional dating platforms. Though they introduced features like moderated swiping and date planning assistance, the familiar fatigue associated with dating apps persisted. We both shared our experiences: while I managed to secure a date through Amata, my attempts on Sitch and Three Day Rule yielded minimal success. Sydney noted similar challenges, highlighting that although Facebook's AI dating assistant provided options, they lacked the depth needed for a meaningful connection. Despite spending time on multiple platforms, neither of us felt we had struck gold in the love department. The technology behind these apps intrigued us, especially Amata's unique feature that automatically plans dates, requiring a commitment fee to ensure serious intentions. However, the costs associated with these services raised questions about their accessibility and effectiveness. As we shared our thoughts, it became clear that the act of dating itself was still a labor-intensive process. Although AI attempted to alleviate some burdens by suggesting matches and organizing logistics, it couldn't eliminate the inherent challenges of dating. We found ourselves grappling with the age-old struggle of connecting with potential partners amidst busy schedules and the pressure of expectations. The matchmaking experience also involved humorous interactions with our AI guides, which added a light-hearted touch to the process. While some aspects were enjoyable, the overall takeaway was that technology alone cannot replace the human effort needed to form lasting connections. In conclusion, despite our hopes, the journey through these AI matchmaking apps did not lead to lasting relationships. Instead, we were reminded that while technology can enhance the dating experience, the quest for love remains a deeply personal and often challenging endeavor.
