Swiggy hikes platform fee to Rs 17.58 per order; follows Zomato’s recent increase

Swiggy has announced an increase in its platform fee to Rs 17.58 per order, inclusive of GST, up from the previous rate of Rs 14.99. This adjustment marks the latest change in a trend of fee hikes among major competitors in the food delivery sector, as both Swiggy and Zomato aim to enhance their profit margins. The recent fee revision closely follows Zomato's own decision to raise its platform fee to Rs 14.90 per order before GST. This adjustment represents a 19% increase from the earlier fee of Rs 12.50, bringing the total cost, including GST, to an identical Rs 17.58—the same as Swiggy's new rate. It is important to note that the platform fee is a standard charge applied to every food delivery, irrespective of the total order amount. Swiggy had last updated its fees in August 2025, when it raised the charges from Rs 12 to Rs 14 in certain regions, coinciding with a noticeable rise in order volumes.
