A man accused of launching a Molotov cocktail at the residence of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman was discovered with a document opposing artificial intelligence that included the names and addresses of other prominent AI leaders and investors, according to federal authorities. Daniel Moreno-Gama, who was arrested on multiple state charges including attempted murder, is now facing federal charges related to the incident that occurred on Friday. A criminal complaint obtained by Business Insider charges him with possessing an unregistered firearm and attempting to damage property using explosives. As detailed in an FBI affidavit, the 20-year-old suspect traveled from Texas to California, where he allegedly threw a Molotov cocktail at two homes adjacent to Altman's. The incendiary device ignited a fire at the driveway gate before Moreno-Gama fled the scene. Approximately 90 minutes later, he reportedly arrived at OpenAI's headquarters in San Francisco, where he attempted to smash the glass doors with a chair. Witnesses noted the suspect declared his intent to "burn it down and kill anyone inside." Subsequent police apprehension led to the recovery of various incendiary materials, including a jug of kerosene and a blue lighter, alongside the anti-AI document. The affidavit describes this document as a three-part series that expressed views against artificial intelligence and included references to executives of numerous AI companies, with Altman being identified as "Victim-1." In the manifesto's first segment, titled "Your Last Warning," the suspect reportedly stated that he had "killed/attempted to kill" Victim-1 and expressed a commitment to leading by example in advocating violence against others. The document went on to enumerate the names of board members, CEOs, and investors in the AI sector, intensifying concerns about the motivations behind the attack.
