Meta's AI application has experienced a remarkable surge in installations following the recent debut of its latest AI model, Muse Spark. This model marks the first release under Alexandr Wang, who leads Meta’s Superintelligence Labs after transitioning from Scale AI last year to enhance the tech giant's AI initiatives. Recent insights from Appfigures, a market intelligence firm, reveal that consumer interest in the Meta AI app has skyrocketed, propelling it from the No. 57 spot just before the Muse Spark launch to No. 5 on the U.S. App Store within a day. This sudden rise indicates a wave of new installations, reflecting strong demand. The newly introduced AI model, available on both web and mobile platforms, is touted as a major enhancement over earlier versions like Llama 4. This launch is part of Meta's broader strategy to compete with industry leaders such as OpenAI and Anthropic. The company has invested billions in attracting AI talent and recently committed $14.3 billion to Scale AI. Muse Spark supports multimodal inputs, including voice, text, and images, and is designed to excel in various tasks. This includes assisting users in health inquiries and tackling complex scientific and mathematical questions. Additionally, it offers capabilities for visual coding, enabling users to create websites and mini-games from simple prompts. The app can deploy multiple subagents to address user queries effectively. Meta has announced plans to extend Muse Spark to other platforms, including WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, and its AI glasses, in the coming weeks. Alongside the model's launch, the Meta AI mobile app and website have received a redesign, allowing users to switch modes based on their tasks. Despite this recent growth, the Meta AI app still trails behind competitors like OpenAI's ChatGPT, which holds the top position, followed by Anthropic’s Claude and Google's Gemini in the ranks. Wang highlighted the app's new ranking in a post on X Thursday, emphasizing its ongoing growth. Currently, the Meta AI app has amassed a total of 60.5 million installations globally, with 25 million of those occurring this year alone. In the past five months, downloads have surged by 138% compared to the initial five months of its release. As per Appfigures, India leads as the top market for Meta AI downloads, followed by the U.S., Brazil, Pakistan, and Mexico.
