In a significant move to enhance its platform, Substack has expanded its video capabilities for content creators, transitioning from its original focus on newsletters. On Wednesday, the company revealed a suite of new features designed to aid publishers in promoting and growing their livestreams. One of the standout updates allows creators to share clips from their live broadcasts directly on Notes. This real-time performance tracking enables publishers to assess which clips resonate best, guiding their decision on which videos to upload to popular platforms like YouTube Shorts for broader reach. For those who link their YouTube accounts, the top two highlighted clips will be automatically uploaded to their Shorts channels. Currently, this feature is available on the iOS app, with an Android version expected to launch next week. Utilizing AI technology, Substack also offers the ability to generate short highlight reels from recorded videos. Moreover, when a livestream is scheduled, the platform automatically produces promotional materials that can be shared across Notes, YouTube, and various social media channels, streamlining the process for publishers. Additionally, a new feature allows creators to invite guests via email or SMS, making participation easier for followers who may not have a Substack account. This latest update follows the introduction of audio-only livestreams and a scrollable video feed, marking another step forward in Substack’s commitment to enhancing live video capabilities for all publishers earlier this year.
