When you make an emergency call or send a text message, the dispatcher can send a request to your device, allowing you the option to share live video from your camera. This video feed is encrypted, ensuring your privacy, and you can stop sharing at any time. In a recent blog post, Google emphasized the importance of this feature, stating, "With a single tap, you can start securely streaming from your camera, allowing responders to quickly assess the situation and provide you with the right help in real-time." This live video capability can also assist responders in guiding individuals through potentially life-saving procedures, such as CPR, until professional help arrives. Both Google and Apple have been enhancing the safety features available on their devices, incorporating options like emergency SOS, crash detection, fall detection, and satellite location services. The Android Emergency Live Video feature will be compatible with devices running Android 8 or later and is set to launch in the United States as well as selected areas in Germany and Mexico.
