Starlink announces subscription prices in India ahead of launch

SpaceX's Starlink is gearing up to roll out its satellite internet service in India, unveiling subscription prices just before its launch. The company has announced that the monthly plan for residential users will be set at Rs 8,600. In addition to this monthly fee, customers will need to invest in a hardware kit, which carries a one-time price tag of Rs 34,000. This kit comprises essential equipment, including a Starlink satellite dish, a kickstand, third-generation routers, a 15-meter cable, a 1.5-meter AC cable, and a power supply. Starlink promises an enticing offer with unlimited data access and a 30-day free trial period. Users can expect reliable internet connectivity, boasting over 99.9% uptime and performance that remains stable across various weather conditions. Plans for business users are still under wraps, but Starlink is anticipated to announce these options in the near future, with services expected to commence officially in 2026. The company is also establishing operational and commercial hubs in Bengaluru and Mumbai, respectively. In preparation for its launch, Starlink has begun hiring for key positions, including a Payments Manager and an Accounting Manager, as indicated by job listings on LinkedIn. While the service's availability map notes that regulatory approvals are still pending, Starlink has successfully obtained the necessary licenses from the Indian Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe).
