Starlink, the satellite internet initiative launched by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, has officially announced its monthly residential service pricing for India. With a mission to deliver high-speed internet to isolated and underserved regions, the company is gearing up for a significant entry into India's telecommunications sector, following a period of regulatory approvals and operational preparations. The updated Starlink India website reveals that the Residential plan will cost ₹8,600 per month. Additionally, users will need to purchase a hardware kit for a one-time fee of ₹34,000. This plan includes unlimited data along with a 30-day trial period, allowing new subscribers to evaluate the service. Starlink claims that its system is capable of functioning under various weather conditions and boasts an impressive uptime of over 99.9%. Ease of installation is another highlight, as customers are simply required to plug in the equipment to access the network. These features are particularly attractive to families and communities where conventional broadband services have been limited or unreliable. While the pricing for the Residential plan has been disclosed, details about the Business subscription tier remain under wraps. Starlink is expected to announce its commercial offerings in the near future as it finalizes its launch strategy and continues negotiations with regulatory bodies. The company’s expansion efforts in India are also evident in its recent recruitment activities. In late October, SpaceX advertised four job openings on LinkedIn for its Bengaluru office, including positions for a Payments Manager, an Accounting Manager, a Senior Treasury Analyst, and a Tax Manager. These roles are part of Starlink's strategy to broaden its international presence. Reports suggest that SpaceX plans to set up ground stations in various Indian cities to enhance network reliability and service quality ahead of a full-scale launch. Earlier in the month, Musk highlighted the ongoing advancements in the Starlink satellite internet network during a podcast, emphasizing the program's global reach and its potential impact on providing access to underserved areas. His remarks hinted at the significance of entering the Indian market, where many rural and remote communities still struggle with reliable internet access.
