Daniel Ek’s body-scanning startup Neko Health raises another $700M

Neko Health, the innovative body-scanning and health assessment firm co-founded by Spotify's Daniel Ek and Hjalmar Nilsonne, has successfully secured $700 million in a Series C funding round. This substantial investment was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and O.G. Venture Partners, marking a significant milestone following the company's previous $260 million Series B funding raised in January 2025. The startup has introduced advanced proprietary body-scanning technology that works in conjunction with blood tests to provide comprehensive health assessments. Notably, for fitness enthusiasts, the service now includes detailed body composition analytics. By integrating Apple Health data, Neko Health equips its medical professionals with practical insights to enhance their evaluations. Currently operational in the UK and Sweden, Neko Health is gearing up to launch its inaugural location in the United States, set to open in New York City. The growing popularity of the service is evident, with over 100,000 scans already conducted and an impressive 350,000 individuals either on a waitlist or scheduled for appointments. Among those who have benefitted from a Neko Health scan is Alex Tew, the founder of Calm, who shared on social media that the scan revealed a malignant mole on his back, which he subsequently had removed. Tew expressed gratitude toward Neko Health, stating, "I’m not sure how I would have otherwise discovered this." Neko Health is not alone in the health scanning sector; MidJourney, known for its AI image creation platform, is also venturing into body scanning technology. They plan to incorporate their scanner into a spa experience that will feature hot tubs and saunas, with an anticipated opening in San Francisco in 2027. The latest funding round for Neko Health also attracted investments from several notable firms, including Atomico, General Catalyst, Lakestar, Liberty City Ventures, Positive Sum, and BDT & MSD.
